How much mulch should I buy?
As a general rule of thumb, one cubic yard of bark mulch will cover an area measuring about 100 square feet. Most landscape professionals recommend a minimum depth of about 3 inches. If you’re adding a layer of top dressing to an area that was previously mulched, you may wish to use a little less.
How to Calculate
To calculate the amount of mulch you’ll need, you will need to measure dimensions (e.g., length and width) of area(s) you wish to cover.
The following calculators can be used to help you determine the number of yards of bark mulch required for various shaped beds. Simply enter the required dimensions into the desired shaped bed.
